5 #SPEDMT Favorites of 2016

I had a blast growing with you as a music therapist in school settings in 2016! My favorite milestone was wrapping up our first full year! With your support, our site continues to grow to offer you more resources, ideas and inspiration! Here is a countdown of my favorite resources we added last year!

5 Professional Forms/Templates ::

:: Music Therapy Joy's Planning Sheets provide an efficient way to plan evidence-based strategies and to organize them for quick reference as you travel from place to place!

:: Our Data Sheets make best practice a cinch as you quickly take concise and consistent data that you can easily reference and can feel proud to share with other professionals! (Learn more about the Planning Sheets and Data Sheets from our blog post, Let's Get Organized!).

:: The Annual Self-Assessment tool walks you through the challenges and victories each school year brings to encourage and inspire you moving forward! (Learn more about the Annual Self-Assessment from our blog post, Do Something Good for Yourself).

:: The Annual Report and Dismissal Templates give you a professional way to articulate either student goals and progress, or dismissal from services in a one-page format that you can share during IEP meetings. (Learn more about these templates from our blog post, How to Nail Your Annual IEP Meeting).

:: and the MOST EXCITING addition is Music Therapy Joy's Assessment Forms! These forms are designed to offer you professional, consistent, clearly outlined digital templates for your assessments that you can fill-in, save and submit in a variety of formats! (Learn more about the Assessment Forms from our blog post, Assessments Made Easy-er).

4 Seasonal Strategy Packs ::

This year we introduced themed strategy packs (available for download in the shop) to give you strategy suggestions (song, instrument, book, manipulative/texture and visual aids - printables included!) to meet a wide range of goals commonly addressed in school settings with consideration for all grades, pre-k-12!

:: Back to School Pack (Learn more from our blog post, Back to School)

:: Halloween Pack (Learn more from our blog post, Not-So-Scary-Halloween-Strategies)

:: Thanksgiving Pack (Learn more from our blog post, Give Thanks)

:: Holiday Pack (Learn more from our blog post, Holiday Refresh)

3 Collaboration in Education Episodes ::

We created a new Music Therapy Joy series: Collaboration in Education! In this series we educate music therapists on the role and scope of the other special education professionals and provide possibilities for collaboration and co-treatment to mutually improve our services! Video interviews provide professional information in a casual environment! Check out our first 3 segments!

2 FREE #SPEDMT Research Resources ::

We also provided access to great free resources specific to areas of interest for music therapists in school settings!

:: imagine.magazine: a spectacular FREE annual early childhood music therapy publication packed with research, strategy suggestions, podcast links, infographics and more! (Learn more from our blog post, You Wouldn't Imagine with links to their site http://www.imagine.musictherapy.biz/)

:: AMTA: Check out our blog post, AMTA loves MT's in SPED for links to special-education-specific fact sheets and information provided at no cost to you from our national organization!

1 CMTE eCourse ::

Music Therapy Joy became a CBMT Approved Provider (AP# P-156) in 2016 as well! In addition to providing live trainings, we have our first eCourse available for instant download in our shop! Earn 3 CMTE's by taking the course, Serving Secondary Students in Special Education where you will learn original age-appropriate music therapy strategies and steps to create your own age-appropriate strategies! In addition to access to the training videos, the download includes handouts, visual aid printables, picture schedule cards, and strategy descriptions!

:: Thanks for tracking with us in 2016! Looking forward to a great 2017! EnJOY! ::
