Instructor: Diane Powell, MM, MT-BC

4 CMTES

Diane was knew she wanted to become a music therapist from age 13, and (with the help of her mom, a former school teacher), she’s been collecting books set to song ever since!

After receiving her board certification, she had a 13 year career as a music therapist in schools. She took a break to pursue her Master’s degree, where she did her project on, you guessed it, Exploring the use of Children’s Books in Music Therapy Sessions!

Her collection has grown to more than 400 singable books (including several she’s written melodies to herself)!

During this e-course, Diane demonstrates how to incorporate highly-engaging and varied music strategies with 30 children’s books to address academic, communication, functional and social emotional goals. She also shares how to apply the techniques learned in this course to other children’s books.

In addition to the training videos, this course includes her complete list of more than 400 singable books for use in the classroom or music therapy sessions!

Included in the course:

  • training videos & handouts to teach the books, songs and techniques! (4 continuing education credits/pre-approved for 4 CMTEs)
  • the Sing a Story Book List (an alphabetical spreadsheet of over 400 Singable Books, including links to demonstrations of the melodies, where available)!

Diane has been thinking about this topic for well over two decades, and is excited to share from her educational, clinical and personal expertise!
